When I first met Andrea, I was working a job where I was poorly paid and extremely overworked. I expressed being overworked to her on several occasions and she would say “are you happy with the pay”. At the time I was, simply because I didn’t know any better.
She would always say, I’m sure you’re worth much more.
Andrea later went to be interviewed for a position supporting the Department of Defense (DoD). After receiving an offer she referred me to the company. I expressed my desire to apply, and she asked to see my resume first. Upon reviewing my resume, she immediately called me; mentioning all the things to change or add to be marketable in the job market as a whole.
I wasn’t aware at the time, but she truly saw better for me than I did for myself. I remember her critiquing my interviewing style, advising what to wear and how to conduct myself when being interviewed. Make sure you sit up straight, put your back against the chair; I notice you slouch a lot (lol). She then asked me “Are you taking notes?” She knew how bad I wanted this increase, the job itself; change is what she called it.
I later received an offer, and could not thank her enough. Although I received an offer, she often reminded me that “This place is not your final destination.” She encouraged me to complete courses for certification, etc. In her words, stay up on what’s happening around you.
As of today, I’m able to provide wise counsel to those in need because of all Andrea has done to prepare me to “be marketable.” Her motto - each one, teach one! Her work with me goes beyond me and for that I’m sincerely grateful! Her desire to see us all win, is truly admirable! Andrea - Thank You!
